Why we exist

Most people donate via credit card. However, donating appreciated stock is far more tax-effecient because the nonprofit keeps the capital gains that taxes would have taken, and the donor gets a greater tax benefit. Despite this advantage, the process is usually hidden behind forms and jargon. It is typically only practical if you have a private banker or a donor-advised fund.

The information gap 

There is a disconnect in the current market. On one side, investors want to help but often feel helpless because they rarely see proof of outcomes. On the other side, highly effective, data-driven nonprofits exist that can show exactly what kind of societal change a dollar fuels. What has been missing is an uncomplicated way for everyday investors to support that work directly from the wealth they are growing.

Why now 

We are in a generational shift in wealth and expectations. Younger investors want tools that align values with outcomes, and they demand ease and evidence.

Why we exist 

Before Sharely, I spent 11 years as a tech product manager at Goldman Sachs and 6 years advising nonprofits. That vantage point showed me that capital markets create opportunities for gain, and nonprofits create opportunities for change. But the bridge between the two was too hard to cross. Sharely is that bridge.
